3 Great Epoxy Flooring Options for Your Garage

3 Great Epoxy Flooring Options for Your Garage

You may have been looking at your garage floor thinking it needs to be finished. Whether you want a floor that is easy to clean or a floor that looks like it belongs in a showroom, epoxy is the way to go. Epoxy is highly durable, easy to maintain, and resistant to spills. You can accidentally leak oil on the floor, and simply wipe it up with no risk of staining. It is long-lasting and very attractive as well.

Here are some great epoxy flooring options for your garage.

Solid Color Epoxy

Solid color epoxy is perfect if you want the simplest look for your floor. Solid epoxy comes in many colors, so you can choose to go with a concrete gray, or spruce it up with a color that will match your home. Solid colored epoxy comes premixed, similar to paint. You can include a non-skid additive so that your floor is slip-resistant. To coat your garage floor with epoxy, you can use a regular paint roller.

Metallic Epoxy

If you want a showroom worthy floor, metallic epoxy is a great choice. With metallic epoxy, you mix a metallic additive into your epoxy and then pour it onto your floor. Kits are available that include a primer, solid basecoat, metallic color, and a clear coat. You can create different effects by using more than one color of the metallic additive. Some experts even paint on one color and then use a spray bottle to spray mists of a different color on. There are a lot of options available, all of which make for an amazing-looking floor.

Vinyl Flake Epoxy

Vinyl flake epoxy is one of the most often used kinds of epoxy on garage floors. With flake epoxy, you can choose several matching colors to broadcast over the floor. Color options range from white to black and everything in between, giving you plenty of choices. With vinyl flake epoxy, you paint epoxy on the floor in small sections, and then broadcast the flakes onto it. Continue until the floor is covered, and then sweep the excess chips off the next day. You then pour a clear epoxy over the chips to seal them, and you have a floor that is attractive and functional!
